Depending on your group size, how long you will be staying, and what kinds of things you like to do, we have room sizes to accommodate every family. In a 368-acre setting surrounding one of the most pristine high-altitude lakes in the West, Monument Lake Resort offers several different services for guests that want to enjoy the great outdoors in Colorado.
Monument Lake Colorado
Monument Lake Colorado is located just 35 miles west of Trinidad on Hwy 12 in Colorado. Built in 1937, it was named for a rock formation that stood at its center. The Lake is a favorite among avid fishermen and outdoor enthusiasts alike for sport fishing and boating. Although the Lake is the secondary water source for Trinidad, it has served the area as a recreational amenity for decades.
The valley in which the Lake is nestled is surrounded by gorgeous views in all directions. Those that hike will find trails all over the area deep into the Sangre de Cristo Mountains for all the natural adventures anyone could desire. As a day-trip or week-long vacation destination spot, Monument Lake checks off all the boxes for an affordable getaway back to nature.
Cabin Amenities
Monument Lake Cabins offer small and large bed options with kitchenettes for individuals, or couples, and family-sized groups. Each cabin includes a private shower. There is also an indoor fireplace. The outdoor patio area with a camp stove and fire-pit are outside each.
There is also a brand new bathhouse on the property built in 2019. It has 4 ADA-compliant showers and restrooms available to patrons of the park. The property also features a laundry room open to all guests and visitors.
Room Types and Rates
There are 13 comfortable private cabins available for rent at Monument Lake. Featuring Adobe-style construction and extras that make each the perfect bungalow, the spaces are available seasonally for reservations in advance. With reasonable rates and flexible amenities, these cozy cabins make any stay at Monument Lake memorable.
Ten of the cabins are single queen bedrooms that are the least expensive of the bunch at $159 per night. Each one features a private shower and indoor fireplace for added ambiance and warmth. The cabin offers an outdoor patio complete with lounge chairs for communing with family or a good book. You can roast marshmallows over an open flame with the kids or cook a fresh fish meal with your friends in the personal fire pit and camp stove at the cabin.
Three of the cabins have a queen bed, bunk beds for the kids and a kitchenette for $179 per night. All three options allow a couple or more to stay for days or weeks with a reservation. Cabins are close together on the property to make access to the lodge and restaurant quick and easy but far enough away from each other to offer some privacy.

Resort Activities
Visitors to the resort come for the fishing. Browns and rainbows are stocked and levels are maintained regularly for good finishing all year round. Fishing boats, pontoons, and kayak boat rentals are available right on-site. Accessories such as life preservers are also available. The convenience store is open 7 days a week where everything from snacks and drinks (non-alcoholic and alcoholic) to supplies can be purchased.
The lodge-style restaurant is open daily for three meals breakfast through dinner. The high-open-beam-ceilings and wood floor are gorgeous features of the lodge, lounge, and restaurant. There is no-public Wi-Fi in the common areas for that off-the-grid feel. There is a recreation room/arcade on the property for entertainment the whole family will enjoy.
